Royal Caribbean has unveiled the first ship in their newest line of cruise ships the “Icon” class with the “Icon of the Sea” and it is giant, the biggest in fact at a whopping estimated 1,198 feet long about 10 feet longer then the oasis class of cruise ships. 20 total decks, 2805 staterooms, 7 pools, 9 whirlpools, and a maximum of over 9000 passengers(including crew) there is a lot to unpack here so lets over the neighborhoods.

Disney Reinstates in Person Muster Drills

Prior to March of 2020, before all the cruise lines had to shut down due to the pandemic, the beginning of your cruise would have started off with a large gathering of passengers and crew aboard deck. This of course was the mandatory muster drill that every cruise goer was required to attend. However, when cruising came back after the pandemic large crowds of people was something that was avoided and the birth of the virtual muster drill came into being, but now that might be going away as well.

Masks are Back? Covid-19 Protocols Reinstated

It’s been almost 3 years since the start of the pandemic, and even less time has passed since cruising has made its come back. Just recently major cruise lines have dropped all Covid restrictions and protocols aboard the ship, however due to a recent mass covid outbreak aboard a cruise ships those protocols are back in place.

Disney Purchases One of the Worlds largest Cruise Ships

Disney announced last week that the company will be purchasing a half finished cruise ship formerly known as the “Global Dream” after Dream Cruises went out of business. As of now this will be the largest ship in the Disney fleet which their world class engineers or “Imagineers” will be working with German shipyard Meyer Werft to add Disney attractions to the ship.
